Hi everybody, I’m Marieke. If you think Marieke is a strange name, it’s a
pretty normal name in the Netherlands where I live. Besides an addicted reader I’m busy being a mom to my two little monsters and I’m madly in love with my husband of almost twenty years.
I have loved reading since I was a little girl. When I was supposed to do my homework, my mother always found me with a book hidden under my desk so I was able to read some chapters before dinner. As a young girl I was addicted to the Famous Five series by Enid Blyton, even thinking about it brings back found memories..
I can’t remember a time not reading, although there were times I wasn’t focused enough to hide myself in my bookworld. A certain trilogy – yes, I’m talking about Fifty Shades of Grey – changed it all, I went from thrillers, suspense and mystery to (erotic) romance. And that’s what I have been reading ever since. I love indie authors and the stories they bring; Dylan Allen, Hilaria Alexander, E.S. Carter, Brynne Asher, Kristen Ashley. Just to name a very few of the authors who’s stories I truly adore.
So why do I write reviews? Well, I read so much that hubby-dear started to give me ‘the look’. And that made me thinking.. What else can I do with my love for books? Opening my own bookstore was a possibility, but a very expensive one.. Reviewing books was my second thought, and since I was once told my English was too bad for a job I thought, why not.. This way I can a. read and review books I like and b. practice my English..
